Providing Support Fathers with Toddlers
Becoming a father is one of life’s special transitions, as well as one of the largest responsibilities we can hold. For some, it is a great joy dreamed of throughout our lives. For others, a heavy time wrought with fear, stress, doubt, and hardship. Some of us may have had excellent fathers of our own, leaving large shoes to fill, and some of us have had absent fathers who gave us no proper road map of parenting at all or anything in between. The legacies of past fathers scale from best friend and supporter to sources of abuse, terror, or longing absence. In an ever changing world there are new challenges like screen time or social media, so let’s change with it to be the best parents, partners, and providers we can be. With our Dadvocacy group we aim to share the knowledge of our experiences with one another, make goals to be better parents than those we may have had, better partners and supporters to our spouses, heal our own childhood wounds, and give our children the best versions of ourselves so that they can grow up to be their own. In this group we will discuss the myriad challenges that come with parenthood; from communication and diapers, knowing resources and supports, and being knowledgeable of the growth and goals of parenting. Learning to manage our children’s consistent needs while managing work, relationships, finances, and our own self-care while establishing community and companionship to help change the old and create a better world for ourselves and our children.
